TRUANCY & TARDINESS POLICY…
In accordance with State Laws, all students are held to regular and punctual attendance. It is the responsibility of the parent to see that school age children are in attendance every day that school is in session. When your child is absent or tardy, please fill out the Absent/Tardy form available in the school office. Also please note that 10% absent of 180 days is considered truant and will be made up after that point before or after school hours at the discretion of the teacher. A student who is tardy more than 10 times within the school year will be unable to participate in the various end of the year social field trips and activities.

ZION SCHOOL ENROLLED IN CONTEST…
Currently the Saginaw 8 Theatre is showing "Expelled - No Intelligence Allowed" starring Ben Stein on a search as to why no one is allowed to challenge "Darwinism" as opposed to "Intelligent Design." The movie is rated PG 13 probably due to scenes from the holocaust which shows piles of bones.

Zion has been enrolled in a contest. We will win $10,000 if we turn in the most ticket stubs from this movie. So, we are asking that if you do attend the movie, would you please drop off your ticket stubs to the school office? We need to have them postmarked by May 30th. Thank you.

POPCORN SALES- .50…
Bring .50 on Thursday to order a bag of popcorn. Your popcorn will come to your classroom on Friday. The 3rd graders are selling popcorn to raise money to help Erlandie in Haiti through Compassion International.

Outstanding Lunch/Milk Fees…
All lunch/milk charges need to be paid by Friday, May 30th. Please stop in the school office for exact amounts.

PRAY FOR OUR CHILDREN!!
Please pray for our children as they learn about stewardship of God’s resources. No matter how young or old, the Lord wants our help in caring for all the gifts he has given us. By using the time, talents, and money he has provided, this will help us build the Foundations for the Future.

HELP OUR SCHOOL!!
Microsoft and Scholastic have teamed up to present SEARCH AND GIVE, an innovative and automatic way for our school to raise money. Parents, students, and teachers can now earn money for our school when they search the Web. It costs you absolutely nothing. You just have to sign up and select Zion as your charity and every time you search the internet you will earn tickets that can be converted into money for the school.

FOUNDATIONS FOR THE FUTURE...
Zion Lutheran Church/School is beginning a capital campaign to raise $1.9 million to renovate the school. This includes putting in a completely new heating system, a new roof on the gym, updating the boys and girls bathrooms, and replacing the old electrical wiring and fire alarm system. If enough money is raised, we will also renovate the present bowling alley and put in a new media center, including a library and a computer lab. The bowling alley area would also house new offices and a new multi-purpose room for all to use.

Zion Lutheran School's children are competing in a Penny Drive. The teacher of the class that gets the largest net amount will wear Sully's costume from the movie "Monsters Inc." for an entire day and the students will get to watch the movie and have a treat. Which teacher will wear the costume? Watch the penny containers as they fill in each classroom. Only pennies count for the net amount collected. Any paper bills or nickels, dimes, or quarters will be subtracted from the pennies. So, if you want your class to win, you will need to add pennies to your container and in other classrooms you will have to add the other types of money. Let's see how much money we can raise toward the renovations.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL…
Vacation Bible School is ready for YOU! All children ages pre-school through grade 5 are invited to attend. Class will run from July 7th thru July 11 from 9:00am-11:00am. We are looking for volunteers for Bible lessons and crafts. If you would like to volunteer one morning or all five, please leave your name and phone number in the church or school office for Julie Glumm.

The grocery donation list will be coming as soon as our snack menu is planned.

POP CAN TABS...
Break those pop can tabs off and send to school! We are saving them for Ronald McDonald House. 933 tabs make one pound. Ronald McDonald House gets about 50„ a pound to help support their houses. So help and save! So far we have colleced 11 ice cream pails of tabs!! Way to go!

SUMMER HOURS…
Please call the school office, before coming to pick-up keys for summer activities, to make sure somebody is here. There will be someone in the office, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to noon, on most Mondays through Fridays. However, please call before making a trip to the school. The telephone number is 893-5793.

Have You Checked the School Calendar???
Please check with Ms. Symborski as you make plans to use the school in the upcoming school year. It is very important that you contact her before making plans. With as many organizations and groups that utilize our school facilities, she needs to have a list of the dates and times to keep us all-straight. If your organization is planning events for the next school year, be sure to check with her first to schedule events as to not run into any conflict. The school office will be open throughout the summer in the mornings.

BOX TOPS...BOX TOPS...
Our new Box Tops coordinator for next year will be Kim Goodnight. Thanks for volunteering Kim! A huge thank you to Tracy for all her hard work! Please continue to save your box tops now and through the summer!
